The collapse of a bridge in Bihar, India, on Sunday has prompted the government to issue a notice to SP Singla Construction Pty Ltd. The managing director Niraj Saksena has been asked to respond to the show cause notice within 15 days, or the company could face blacklisting in the state. Officials have also suspended an executive engineer in Khagaria who was responsible for inspecting the bridge during construction. Opposition leader Samrat Chaudhary criticised the state’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the incident, stating that the Nitish model of governance had collapsed in the water. The government promised swift action against the company before the investigation is completed.
