The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again attacked the Congress party over corruption, while promoting the Modi government’s implementation of various welfare schemes during the last nine years. Amit Malviya, head of BJP’s IT cell, tweeted that the Modi government had ensured direct transfer of money to the people’s accounts through initiatives such as Jan Dhan, Mobile, and Aadhaar. Malviya claimed that 29 lakh crores had been deposited in the accounts of the people through various welfare schemes, as opposed to the corruption-prone Congress government.

Moreover, Malviya pointed out that the Indian economy had been strengthening continuously since 2014, and the Modi government had furthered this progress by strengthening banks and implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system. He called India the fifth largest economy in the world, adding that it was advancing in every aspect and had a bright future under the Modi government.

Malviya’s views on India’s economic progress are supported by data reflecting the country’s rapid growth over the past decade. The World Bank has also projected India to be the fastest-growing major economy in the world, with the potential to be the world’s second-largest economy by 2030. India has been able to attract a high degree of foreign investment, with many large multinational corporations, eager to enter India’s thriving market, setting up business offices in the country.

The BJP’s constant criticism of Congress’ alleged lack of integrity has been a hallmark of the party’s political playbook. The BJP’s emphasis on efficient governance, transparency, and welfare schemes has paid electoral dividends, attracting voters who are increasingly wary of corruption by political parties. The implementation of welfare policies is expected to have a direct impact on BJP’s electoral fortunes, as it ensures that economic benefits are delivered straight to the people.
