Her half-burnt body was discovered in an abandoned well on the premises of Chandrapur Hospital on the same day. This incident occurred almost 11 years after a woman teacher named Itishree was burned alive in the same Tikiri.
Family members of Laxmi have lodged a complaint with the police, claiming that their daughter was raped and murdered before her body was abandoned to destroy evidence. They have reportedly named a person named Mohapatra as the suspect in this heinous crime.
The BJP has demanded justice for Laxmi Majhi and the BJP Mahila Morcha observed a six-hour bandh in Rayagada. A fact-finding team also met with the victim’s family members on Sunday to gather more information.
