BJP Delegation Investigates Nuh Violence, Opposition Criticizes Visit

A delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by state president Om Prakash Dhankar, visited the violence-affected Nuh district in Gurugram on Wednesday to assess the situation. Dhankar acknowledged the efforts of the Haryana government and district administration in restoring peace and emphasized that those responsible for the attack on the Brajmandal Yatra on July 31 would not be spared.

During the visit, the delegation urged the district administration to ensure that innocent individuals not involved in the riots would not face unnecessary police harassment. However, the opposition parties, including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), criticized the BJP’s visit. They claimed that their leaders were denied entry, suggesting that the ruling party was trying to conceal the truth.

The AAP delegation was stopped at the border while the Congress delegation was similarly refused entry into Nuh. AAP alleged that the government’s actions were politically motivated, aimed at preventing opposition parties from meeting the actual victims and understanding the true situation.

The BJP, on the other hand, clarified that their visit was restricted to meetings with officials at the circuit house and did not involve interacting with the general public in Nuh. Dhankar accused both AAP and Congress of instigating trouble and alleged that leaders from these parties were connected to the perpetrators of the July 31 violence.

He emphasized that those responsible for the killing of six people during the violent incident had been identified and would be prosecuted in a court of law, regardless of their political affiliations. Dhankar also highlighted that the situation in Nuh was gradually returning to normal and praised the cooperation between the Hindu and Muslim communities, the district administration, and the police in restoring peace in the Mewat region known for its communal harmony.

Regarding the legality of bulldozers being used against the properties of suspects, Dhankar stated that action was taken against illegal constructions and encroachments in areas where violent activities occurred. He clarified that while the administration had to take stringent action in response to such incidents, it was their responsibility to ensure that all actions were carried out within the boundaries of the law.

As accusations of communal polarization and intelligence failure were raised by the opposition parties, Dhankar countered by claiming that leaders from their parties were also involved in the violence and arson. He urged these parties to focus on their own leaders and party members against whom FIRs had been registered in connection with the Nuh violence. He reassured that the incidents were being investigated and those responsible would be held accountable.

The Congress, whose delegation was denied entry to Nuh, accused the state government of discrimination and attempting to hide the truth. Senior Congress leader Captain Ajay Singh Yadav questioned why the BJP delegation was allowed to visit while others were prevented. The AAP also criticized the government, asserting that it was trying to suppress the truth about the situation in Nuh.

In response to the opposition parties’ allegations, the Nuh district administration issued a statement defending its actions. Dhirendra Khadgata, the Nuh deputy commissioner, clarified that the law applies equally to all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations. He explained that due to the imposition of Section 144 in the district, political outfits were requested not to visit Nuh due to the sensitive situation.

Khadgata emphasized that there was no restriction on anyone meeting district officials, and social organizations were welcome to hold meetings with the administration. He asserted that the rules applied equally to all and emphasized the importance of people exercising discretion and not being misled in the current situation.

While the BJP delegation’s visit to Nuh has drawn criticism from the opposition, the authorities continue their efforts to restore peace and hold those responsible accountable. The situation in Nuh remains a matter of concern, and it is crucial to address the root causes of the violence to prevent further incidents and promote communal harmony in the region.
