Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Both Congress and BJP leaders are claiming victory in the state after the announcement of the exit poll results on Thursday evening. The surveys varied, with some predicting a return of the BJP government and others suggesting Congress forming the government. In response to the exit poll results, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan acknowledged the support of the people and praised the government-run schemes that have improved lives in the state. Meanwhile, former chief minister Kamal Nath sought to boost the morale of Congress party workers through a social media message, expressing confidence in a strong majority for the party when the counting begins on December 3.

Congress leader Jitu Patwari pointed out that the BJP is not leading in any state, including Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Patwari confidently stated that Congress will form the government in all four states with a significant majority. BJP candidate Kailash Vijayvergiya claimed that the BJP will secure anywhere between 130 to 160 seats and the party’s parliamentary board will decide the leader.

In addition to the excitement surrounding the exit poll results, Congress party leaders have demanded the removal of Balaghat collector Dr. Girish Kumar Mishra and a high-level inquiry into an issue related to postal ballots. Congress leader JP Dhanopia submitted a letter to the Election Commission of India, urging the suspension of the collector and a thorough investigation into the matter. The incident came to light after a video went viral on social media, showing government employees bundling postal ballots inside a strong room in Balaghat. The Congress workers reported the incident to the election commission, which subsequently suspended the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Returning Officer Gopal Kumar Soni, as well as the postal ballot in charge, Himmat Singh.

The exit poll results have generated much anticipation and excitement among the political parties in Madhya Pradesh. While the BJP remains optimistic about their prospects of returning to power, the Congress party is hopeful of a strong majority. The actual outcome will be revealed on December 3 when the counting of votes begins. Until then, both parties and their supporters will eagerly await the final result that will determine the political landscape of the state for the foreseeable future.
