Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misleading the tribal population and exploiting their beliefs. Nath made these comments while addressing the media in Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh.
During his speech, Nath criticized Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and attributed the statistics of atrocities against tribal people to the BJP-led government. He mentioned that the state of Madhya Pradesh is ranked the highest in atrocities against tribal people in the country. Nath accused the BJP of taking 18 years to implement the PESA Act and alleged that implementation of the act had been done through an act of corruption, resulting in every BJP program becoming a means of scam.
According to Nath, corruption is rampant at all levels of the government, from low to high, resulting in a situation where bribes are necessary to perform any work. He talked about the construction of the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, accusing the government of corruption and alleged that the idols produced were hollow.
Regarding the recent lathi charge incident on Bajrang dal workers in Indore, Nath said that such behavior was unfortunate. He suggested that the police should respect their uniform and be respected by the public. He then went on to deny any involvement in corruption, stating that my 47 years of political journey has been spotless, no one can raise its finger on me.
In response, union minister of state for steel and rural development, Faggan Singh Kulaste, suggested that Nath should bring any corruption cases to light, and they will investigate. He further claimed that the BJP could attest to the corruption of Congress and that the party lacked the courage to fight against corruption.
In conclusion, these accusations and counter-claims between political parties are inevitable in Indian politics. Nath’s comments on the current government’s approach to tribal issues will likely spark debate and further discussion on resolutions for improving the welfare of tribal communities. Meanwhile, BJP leaders are likely to use these accusations to their advantage by appealing to their voter base.
