Billionaire Industrialist Criticizes Maserati MC20 as Worst Car Ever

In a surprising turn of events, billionaire businessman Gautam Singhania, who is renowned for his love of luxury cars, has unleashed scathing criticism against Maserati. Singhania, the chief of Raymond, took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his safety concerns regarding the Maserati MC20. Despite its impressive top speed of over 325 kilometers per hour, the car has failed to meet Singhania’s lofty expectations and has been idling in his south Mumbai garage.

During a press conference held on the sidelines of a corporate event, Singhania did not mince words when he declared the Maserati MC20 as the worst car he has ever driven in his life. He even went so far as to caution anyone planning to drive the vehicle, describing it as dangerous. Singhania expressed his disappointment, stating, Frankly speaking, I paid for a Maserati but I got a lemon instead. According to him, the company blamed the poor road conditions in India for the excessive bouncing he experienced while behind the wheel.

Singhania’s scathing comments did not stop there. He took to Twitter and lambasted the Maserati MC20 further, calling it fundamentally flawed and likening the manufacturer’s response to an ostrich burying its head in the sand. His tweets read, The Maserati MC20 has probably been the worst car I have driven in my life. Anybody buying a Maserati car should think twice… Fundamental defects in the Maserati car. Factory like an Ostrich with its head in the sand, not willing to acknowledge. Consumer courts should take notice.

Singhania’s concerns were exacerbated by his belief that the Franco-Italian-American auto conglomerate, Stellantis, which owns Maserati, has refused to acknowledge and address the shortcomings of the MC20. He took to Twitter again, expressing genuine worry, stating, I genuinely believe the Maserati MC20 is a dangerous car and somebody might kill himself in it. Consequently, he called upon Indian authorities and consumer courts to investigate the matter.

Gautam Singhania has long been recognized as a prominent figure in bringing luxury supercars to India. With the introduction of McLaren 720S, he solidified his trailblazing status in the automotive world. Additionally, Singhania owns a McLaren 570S, both registered in Dubai, UAE. His impressive car collection also includes several vintage vehicles.

In response to Singhania’s public criticism, Maserati promptly addressed the issue on X, stating, Hi there, It’s regretful to hear that you have had a negative experience. Our customers are our top priority here at Maserati. We would like to address any concerns you may have. Please send us a private message with more detail, so we can best assist you. Thank you. GC.

The Italian luxury car manufacturer further emphasized its steadfast commitment to customer safety and its strict quality control measures. The company stated that each vehicle undergoes rigorous inspections before leaving the facility. In a statement, Maserati expressed confidence in the technical performance of the MC20, asserting that it is functioning perfectly and complies with their stringent quality standards.

With a starting price of ₹3.69 crore, the Maserati MC20 was launched in India in March, following a year-long delay. The mid-engine supercar is considered a spiritual successor to the revered 2004 MC12 and represents Maserati’s first car with an in-house engine in over two decades.

Despite the clash between Gautam Singhania and Maserati, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact the reputation of the luxury car brand. Both sides maintain their positions, and the Indian authorities and consumer courts will now play a crucial role in addressing the matter.

In conclusion, billionaire industrialist Gautam Singhania’s scorching critique of the Maserati MC20 has sparked a fierce debate about the car’s safety and performance. While Singhania vehemently contends that the vehicle is dangerous and fundamentally flawed, Maserati asserts that their quality standards have been met and that the car is in perfect condition. As this clash unfolds, all eyes are on the Indian authorities and consumer courts to provide a resolution.
