A woman who worked as a stand-in at The Cosby Show in the 1980s has filed a lawsuit against actor Bill Cosby, alleging that he drugged and sexually abused her.
The lawsuit was filed just before the expiry of New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which allowed victims of sexual abuse a one-year window to file claims that would otherwise be barred by time limits. The accuser, who chose to remain anonymous, stated that Cosby offered to mentor her in her acting career but later took advantage of her trust.
The lawsuit also implicates NBCUniversal, Kaufman Astoria Studios, and The Carsey-Werner Company for negligence related to Cosby’s alleged behavior. Cosby’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, criticized the look-back windows and questioned who would be the next target of such claims. Cosby has faced numerous accusations of sexual assault, harassment, and rape from over 60 women, though he has denied all allegations. He was previously convicted but had his conviction overturned in 2021.
