The Supreme Court has suspended the operation of bike-taxi aggregators Rapido and Uber in Delhi until the final policy has been notified. The Delhi government has challenged the interim order of the Delhi High Court, which allowed both aggregators to operate without aggregator licenses till the final policy was notified. A bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Rajesh Bindal asked the High Court to hear the pending case expeditiously and gave the parties the liberty to file early hearing applications before the High Court. The Delhi government has said that the aggregators are operating without proper licenses or permits, as required under Section 93 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The policy for licensing will be put into place by July 31, 2023, and only then can operators continue their business operations in accordance with the law.
