The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a notice under section 138 of MP Municipal Corporation Act, 1956 to the Ganga Jamna Group over its properties in Ashoka Garden. The BMC team took action after National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairman Priyanka Kanungo tweeted that the group had properties and business in Bhopal. The group gained notoriety following a hijab issue in Damoh, and its properties in Ashoka Garden include a hostel, guest house, and garment showroom. The hostel is known as Shri Ram Boys Hostel. BMC officials pasted notices on the building and showrooms, asking for documents including building permission, property tax, completion of construction work, building on rent, and tenant information. The Corporation has given a three-day deadline to respond. The hostel rooms were locked when the BMC officials arrived, and the notice has been served in the name of the owner, Mohammed Rashid. If the group fails to comply with the notice, the BMC threatens to take strict action. Priyanka Kanungo has also demanded action from the government.
