Hermiston Police Department Warns Latino Community About Get-Rich-Quick Scheme
The Hermiston Police Department (HPD) recently issued a warning to the public regarding a get-rich-quick scheme that is specifically targeting the Latino community in Hermiston. The warning was posted on HPD’s Facebook page to alert citizens about a meeting scheduled for Sunday, October 8th, hosted by a business offering a program promising quick wealth.
In their Facebook post, HPD emphasized the importance of conducting thorough research before engaging with companies that make extravagant claims or offer outlandish opportunities. They urged citizens to utilize resources such as the Better Business Bureau, Construction Contractor’s Board, or other consumer safety organizations to gather information about a company or service provider. By simply performing an online search using the company’s name, customers can often find past complaints or issues others have encountered. This due diligence can make a significant difference in protecting oneself and hard-earned money from potential scams.
According to Mark Gomolski, Chairman of Hermiston’s Hispanic Advisory Council, he attended the meeting on October 8th to investigate the organization hosting the event, called the Vicion Group. Gomolski discovered that this particular group was connected to two other companies involved in similar get-rich-quick schemes. The Vicion Group claims on its website to create a system where investors can generate profits 24 hours a day. Additionally, they offer benefits to both investors and business participants through discount coupons as part of a promotional campaign.
Expressing concern for the Hispanic community, Gomolski believes that many members may fall victim to this scheme. He stressed the urgency to expose this fraudulent plot, protecting the community from potential harm and exploitation.
In light of this warning issued by HPD and the concerns raised by Gomolski, it is essential for community members to exercise caution when presented with investment opportunities that promise quick financial gains. As with any financial decision, it is crucial to conduct thorough research and gather as much information as possible before committing to any investment program.
With the rising prevalence of scams targeting vulnerable communities, it is vital for individuals to stay informed, be vigilant, and share information with their networks to prevent further harm.
