Bereaved Mother Holds Charity Event in Memory of Daughter, Raises £5,000 for Mental Health Charity
Isabell Heddle, a 62-year-old mother from Ayrshire, Scotland, recently organized a charity event in memory of her daughter, Lynn Connelly, who tragically took her own life last April. The event, held on what would have been Lynn’s 41st birthday, raised over £5,000 for Megan’s Space, a mental health charity that had been a safety net for Lynn and her family.
Lynn, a mother of two and a fitness fanatic, had been studying to become a personal trainer when she lost her battle with mental health. Described as the life and soul of the party and someone who brightened up every room, Lynn was known for her outgoing nature and desire for everyone to be awesome.
Megan’s Space, a charity established in Irvine following the death of Megan Copeland, who took her own life at the age of 20, provided crucial support to Lynn. They helped fund her counseling sessions, which made a significant difference in her well-being. Although the charity primarily assists young people up to the age of 25, they made an exception for Lynn due to the impact their services had on her.
Isabell, a retired nurse and grandmother of four, continues to honor her daughter’s memory by supporting Megan’s Space. She has formed a special bond with the charity’s founder, Jenny Copeland, and her husband Rob, who also lost their daughter to suicide. Isabell recognizes the devastating effect of losing a child and appreciates the shared purpose she has found in helping others who are struggling with mental health issues.
