Bendel Insurance FC Qualifies for Second Round of CAF Confederation Cup
Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin has secured a place in the second round of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round. The team emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Association Sportive Olympique de Chlef (ASO Chlef) in Algeria, winning 4-3 on penalty kicks.
In the first leg of the match, Bendel Insurance FC defeated their hosts 1-0 in Benin last Saturday. However, they faced a tough challenge in the second leg, resulting in a 1-1 draw at the Salem Mabrouki Stadium in Algiers. The match eventually went to a penalty shootout where Bendel Insurance’s goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, saved two penalty kicks, thus becoming the hero of the night.
Rt Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, congratulated the team for their heroic performance and expressed his pride in their achievement.
