Originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, Avant relocated to Los Angeles in the late 1960s, where he cemented himself as a pillar of influence and mentorship.

During his illustrious career, Avant held various roles, including manager, label owner, concert organizer, event producer, political fundraiser, and mentor. He possessed an extraordinary ability to connect people, open doors, and provide countless opportunities for musicians, actors, and politicians. Avant also served as Motown’s chairman of the board in the 1990s following its sale to PolyGram.
