A Beaverdam woman pleaded guilty today to defrauding her employer through a hotel booking scheme, resulting in a loss of approximately $525,000.
Roxanne Sullivan, 61, was the Travel Manager for a Midwest-based venue preparation company and abused her position by booking higher, commissionable rates for hotels instead of the lower, non-commissionable rates available.
She then directed the extra commission payments into her personal bank account. Sullivan concealed her scheme from her employer by manipulating contracts and emails, and lied to federal agents during their investigation.
She now faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 19, 2024. The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office provided significant assistance in the investigation.
