Basohli to Become Development Hub for Water Sports, Says J-K Tourism Secretary

Basohli, an off-beat tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, is being developed as a hub for adventure, leisure, and heritage tourism, with a particular focus on water sports. The Directorate of Tourism Jammu and Kashmir, in partnership with the Bani Basohli Development Authority, recently hosted a number of events in honor of World Environment Day that celebrated the region’s natural beauty and culture.

The day’s festivities started with an Eco-Tourism Awareness Rally, followed by a series of cultural and artistic performances. Secretary to the Government, Tourism Department, J-K, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah (IAS) was also present, and he emphasized the importance of promoting Basohli as a significant tourist destination in the region.

During the event, the Department of Tourism organized a variety of water sports activities, from kayaking to rafting, which drew enthusiastic participation from both locals and visitors. The event also featured an exhibition of Basohli paintings and a live display of traditional Charkha weaving.

The Department of Tourism has committed to promoting Basohli and is working on modernizing the region’s infrastructure to attract more visitors. They have also pledged to address any critical gaps in tourism infrastructure, and called on all stakeholders to support their efforts to develop Basohli as a world-class tourist destination.

Overall, the celebration of World Environment Day in Basohli was a resounding success, highlighting the region’s unique natural beauty and cultural heritage, and showcasing its potential as a hub for adventure tourism and water sports.
