Bank of North Dakota Facilitates High School Parent Launch Party to Educate on Financial Options
In an effort to assist parents in making informed financial decisions regarding their children’s post-secondary education, the Bank of North Dakota is hosting its second annual High School Parent Launch Party. The event aims to provide parents and guardians of Cass County high school students with valuable insights into various financial options for their children’s career training.
Scheduled to take place on August 30th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the launch party will be held at Essentia Health Plaza at The Lights in West Fargo. It will feature experts from local banks who will meet with parents in small groups, offering guidance on the financial choices their children will have to make as they embark on their career paths, be it entering the workforce, joining the military, or pursuing higher education.
Kelvin Hullet, the Bank of North Dakota’s vice president of business development, emphasized the importance of reaching parents and students in an informal setting. The launch party aims to create an environment where parents feel comfortable asking questions and engaging in conversations about financial matters. Last year’s event received positive feedback from attendees, with many parents finding the session helpful in clarifying their concerns.

Attendees will have a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize, a 2024 high school senior graduation party at the POW/MIA Plaza in downtown West Fargo, which includes a $500 catering certificate, and other cash prizes thanks to the support of local banks and West Fargo Events.
Hullet mentioned that due to the success of last year’s launch party, the Bank of North Dakota is considering expanding the event to other communities in North Dakota in the future. By taking a festive approach to discussing student loans and financial aid, the Bank of North Dakota hopes to make the topic more approachable and engaging for parents and students alike.
Local banks and credit unions supporting the launch party include First International Bank and Trust, Bell Bank, Voice Bank, Western State Bank, Vision Bank, Cornerstone Bank, and Capital Credit Union.
