Bangladesh Election Commission Praised for Peaceful and Meticulously Planned Polls

A three-member delegation from the Election Commission of India has commended Bangladesh’s electoral body for its impeccable planning and the peaceful execution of the recently concluded general elections. The delegation, led by Dharmendra Sharma, senior Deputy Election Commissioner, visited Bangladesh as observers and expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by the Bangladesh Election Commission. The delegation had the opportunity to visit multiple polling stations and witnessed the process firsthand, noting the peaceful participation of Bangladeshi citizens exercising their electoral rights. The Election Commission of India also emphasized the cordial relationship between the two countries’ electoral bodies and expressed their willingness to continue cooperation. The recent election saw Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina secure her fourth consecutive term, though it was marred by boycotting opposition parties. Despite the controversy, Hasina emphasized her commitment to serving the people of Bangladesh, acknowledging the responsibility she feels towards her citizens who have repeatedly supported her.
