AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Asserts Babri Mosque Still Stands at Ram Temple Site

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi delivered an impassioned speech in the Lok Sabha on Saturday, declaring that the Babri mosque continues to exist at the Ram Temple site in Ayodhya. Concluding his address with the slogan Babri Masjid zindabad (Long live Babri Mosque), Owaisi shared the video of his speech on his social media account. Responding to a discussion on the construction of the Ram Temple, Owaisi criticized the BJP government for giving the impression that one religion had triumphed over another.

Owaisi questioned whether the Modi government represents a particular religion or the entire country. He emphasized that India does not have a religious affiliation, stating, Through 22nd January, does this government want to give a message that one religion triumphed over the other? He expressed respect for Lord Ram but condemned Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, stating, I respect Lord Ram but I hate Nathuram Godse because he killed the person whose last words were Hey Ram.

Owaisi further critiqued the Modi government’s celebration of the events that transpired on December 6, 1992, when right-wing activists demolished the Babri Mosque. The Supreme Court ruled in 2019 that the disputed land be handed over to the temple trust for the construction of the Ram Temple, while also instructing the government to allocate a separate 5-acre plot for the construction of a mosque to the Muslim side.

The Babri mosque, which holds historical significance for both Hindus and Muslims, has been a subject of dispute for several decades. Its demolition in 1992 triggered widespread communal violence, resulting in the loss of numerous lives and deepening the existing religious divides in the country.

As the debate on the construction of the Ram Temple continues, the issue remains contentious and reflects the complexity of achieving a delicate balance between religious sentiments and the principles of secularism and justice. The opinions raised by Owaisi shed light on the diverse perspectives surrounding this highly sensitive matter.

The fervent assertions made by the AIMIM chief during his Lok Sabha speech have sparked intense discussions, with many awaiting further developments in this ongoing saga. The future trajectory of the Ram Temple site and the fate of the Babri mosque will continue to resonate across the nation, holding profound implications for religious harmony and societal cohesion in India.
