Ayodhya: When top dignitaries arrive for the pran pratishtha ceremony on January 22 in Ayodhya, they would get to experience the grandeur of the Ram temple as it has been envisaged.
The last and most crucial milestone would be crossed before the midnight of January 21, with the construction workers at the site preparing a temporary shikhar atop the garbha griha.
The shikhar would be brought down later.
Similarly, out of the five mandaps that had to be constructed apart from the shikhar, four have been constructed while the fifth – Gudh mandap – is being prepared temporarily. Gudh mandap is the place under which top dignitaries (besides the group of five who would remain in the garbha griha) will be housed.
The two structures are being prepared with scaffolding made of bamboo and would be covered with appropriate material. For now, instead of pink sandstone we will use some sturdy cloth material similar to that used over huge Durga puja pandals. It also needs to be in line with the overall theme of the temple, said a source.
We are putting scaffolding over the shikhar and Gudh mandap. We do not know what will be used to cover the scaffolding, said a worker who stepped outside the temple complex on Tuesday afternoon for a lunch break.
The trust is also planning to place the Ram Dhwaja, a flag over the temporary shikhar ahead of the consecration ceremony.
