Authorities Shut Down Duplicate Malabar Gold & Diamonds Showroom in Pakistan

Malabar Gold & Diamonds has successfully won a legal battle against brand impersonation over an unauthorized jewellery store in Islamabad, Pakistan. The store owner, Muhammad Faizan, was illegally using the Malabar Gold & Diamonds name and trademark to operate his business while managing social media pages featuring images of the brand’s products. The Pakistani court ordered Faizan to remove all Malabar Gold & Diamonds signage and cease all usage of the brand name and trademarks. When Faizan refused to comply, the accused was arrested and presented in court. Faizan ultimately agreed to a settlement with the brand, which included withdrawing his trademark application for ‘Malabar Gold & Diamonds’ under his name and publishing a confession and declaration of his actions in major English and Urdu newspapers of the brand’s choice. Malabar Group Chairman, M.P Ahammed, expressed that the brand would do everything possible to prevent reputation harm against their business. With an annual turnover of USD 5.2 billion, the company currently operates as the 6th largest jewellery retailer globally with 317 outlets across 10 countries, multiple offices, design centers, wholesale units, and factories across India, Middle East, Far East, and the USA.
