Title: Australia Seek to Fine-Tune Against Bangladesh Ahead of Semifinals

Australia is gearing up for their upcoming match against Bangladesh as they aim to fine-tune their performance before heading into the semifinals of the tournament. Despite their recent victories, the Australian team has had patchy form and has relied heavily on individual brilliance rather than a collective effort.

In contrast, Bangladesh is fighting to secure a place in the top eight teams to qualify for the Champions Trophy. A win against Australia would not only boost their chances but also provide a much-needed positive finish to their otherwise disappointing World Cup campaign.

Although Australia has already secured a spot in the semifinals, they are not treating this match as a dead rubber. They will field their strongest available lineup in Pune, looking to produce a more complete performance against Bangladesh.

One area of concern for Australia has been the form of left-arm quick Mitchell Starc. Despite being one of the highest wicket-takers in World Cup history, Starc has struggled to find his rhythm in this tournament. With an economy rate of 6.55 and 10 wickets at an average of 43.90, Starc will be eager to rediscover his top form against a Bangladesh batting lineup that has shown vulnerability against left-arm pace.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, has faced off-field turmoil with several exits from their coaching staff. Fast-bowling coach Allan Donald and computer analyst Shrinivas Chandrasekaran have both announced that they will not be renewing their contracts. This upheaval adds to the challenges Bangladesh is already facing in their bid to end their World Cup campaign on a positive note.

In terms of team selection, Australia is expected to welcome back Steven Smith, who missed the last match due to vertigo. Additionally, Glenn Maxwell, who delivered a sensational performance against Afghanistan but suffered from severe cramps, will undergo a fitness test. If both players are available, Australia will field a fully fit squad for the first time in the tournament. Marnus Labuschagne or Marcus Stoinis may make way for Smith, depending on the desired balance of the team.

For Bangladesh, captain Shakib Al Hasan will miss the match due to a fractured left index finger. He is likely to be replaced by all-rounder Mahedi Hasan or left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. Opener Tanzid Hasan may also be replaced by Anamul Haque, who recently joined the squad.

The pitch at the Maharashtra Cricket Association has favored batsmen, with South Africa and England posting scores above 330 in their recent matches. However, seamers have also found success due to the pitch offering bounce and carry.

The weather forecast for the day predicts warm and sunny conditions with a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.

As both teams aim to fine-tune their performance ahead of the semifinals and secure their desired outcomes, cricket fans can expect an intense and competitive match in Pune.
