Auckland Woman Seriously Injured Trying to Stop Car Theft
An Auckland woman was left with serious injuries after attempting to thwart a car theft in her neighborhood. The incident occurred on June 19, late at night, when the woman entered a house on Massey Rd, Massey, and took the keys to a car parked in the driveway.
The 58-year-old homeowner was awakened by the sound of her car starting and the offender’s attempt to maneuver it down the driveway. Fearlessly, she jumped into the front passenger seat of her car in an effort to stop the intruder. However, her courageous act took a horrifying turn when she was run over by her own vehicle, resulting in severe injuries.
The offender swiftly fled the scene on Massey Rd, leaving the victim in need of immediate medical attention. Thankfully, she was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police have now determined that the female offender has been targeting other vehicles in the area, breaking into them with criminal intent. In light of this, Detective Senior Sergeant Callum McNeill is urging members of the public to come forward with any information that could help lead to the arrest of this individual.
Describing the offender as a young Maori or Polynesian female with a slim build, long brown hair parted in the middle, officials are working diligently to track her down. Detective McNeill wants to reassure the community that every effort is being made to apprehend the offender and put an end to her criminal activities.
