Brampton Neighborhood Shaken by Attempted Carjackings
In a recent incident in Brampton, an adult male was seriously injured in a shooting, leaving the community in shock. Peel police swiftly responded to the scene near McLaughlin Road and Marycroft Court after receiving a distress call at approximately 3:11 p.m. The injured individual was promptly transported to a local hospital by Peel Regional Paramedic Services, and thankfully, the injuries were determined to be serious but not life-threatening.
However, the troubles did not end there for the Brampton community. Peel Regional Police are currently investigating two separate attempted carjackings that took place within the same neighborhood early one morning. The incidents have raised concerns among residents about their safety and the need for increased vigilance.
The first carjacking attempt occurred near Castlemore Road and Goreway Drive. Surveillance footage obtained by CityNews reveals a victim entering his SUV parked in his driveway at around 5:15 a.m. As the victim settled into his vehicle, a white car slowly passed his home, eventually stopping just beyond the driveway. Three suspects, dressed in hooded sweaters and masks, exited the white car and approached the victim’s SUV from both sides. A struggle ensued as the victim began to scream and honk his horn in a desperate attempt to deter the attackers. However, the suspects eventually retreated to their vehicle on the street and fled the scene. Miraculously, the victim, who had his seatbelt fastened, managed to escape the altercation without any serious injuries. The three young male suspects did not appear to be armed during the confrontation.
Approximately 13 minutes earlier, another attempted carjacking took place in the same neighborhood. A second victim reported being attacked by a group of suspects at around 5 a.m. as he was getting into his vehicle. Surveillance footage captured by a neighbor’s camera shows two suspects forcibly removing the victim from his vehicle, while a third suspect took the passenger seat. According to the victim, he sustained minor injuries to his hand and shoulder during the ordeal, with one of the suspects allegedly brandishing a knife. A fourth individual was reportedly seen driving the getaway car.
Peel police have acknowledged the occurrence of the second attempted carjacking but have not provided further details at this time. Authorities are actively investigating both incidents, determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
These incidents have understandably left the Brampton community on edge, prompting a collective call for enhanced security measures and greater police presence. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately.
As the investigations continue, the Peel Regional Police urge anyone with information related to these carjacking attempts to come forward and assist in the resolution of these cases. The safety of the community depends on the cooperation of its members, and by working together, Brampton can reclaim its sense of security and peace.
