An attempt was made to attack the forest department team in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district while they were removing encroachment from a forest area. According to a forest ranger, the incident occurred near the Madagan area under Lateri police station limits. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The ranger reported that they received information from an informer about the movement of people with bikes in the forest. Upon reaching the site, a person was found to have installed a kiosk near the Madagan waiting hall. The Deputy Ranger informed the individual to remove the kiosk, which resulted in the aggressor getting angry and trying to attack the team with a spade.
Later, the forest ranger lodged a complaint against the attacker at the Lateri police station. While he waited for around an hour at the station, no one was accepting his application, and he was told to wait for the official to come before applying. The Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Ajay Mishra later arrived at the police station, listened to the problems of forest employees. He accepted their application and registered a complaint against the attacker.
The incident is a reminder of the ongoing issues the government is facing in relation to encroachment on forest land and the consequences for those trying to conserve and protect the environment. Attacks on government bodies have become a common occurrence when it comes to forest conservation. The forest conservation department in India is continuously struggling to maintain the natural balance of the ecosystem, which is essential for a healthy environment and human survival.
