Former candidate from the 6-Tening Assembly Constituency, Dr. Tumda Newme, awarded monetary assistance to 45 students, including 10 meritorious NBSE HSLC candidates from the Zeme, Liangmai, and Kuki communities, as well as 15 students from economically backward families. The program was organized on June 2 in Jalukie town and was chaired by Lalmingthang, the general secretary of KSON.
Ramkiudinbo, the pastor of Liangmai Baptist Church, New Jalukie A Block, invoked God’s blessings, and Meyawanpang, DEO of Peren, exhorted the students. Moreover, Apeuna Iheilung, the president of ZMON, expressed her joy and delight in Dr. Tumda’s initiative.
Dr. Newme, who lost in the election, extended his assistance to deserving students as part of his commitment to the public during the last state general elections. He gave away monetary assistance to the deserving candidates, recognizing their potential for human resource development.
The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) presented a citation to Dr. Newme, recognizing his noble initiative and vision in promoting human resource development. Rev. David Vaiphei, executive secretary of KBAN, concluded the program with a prayer of blessings upon the meritorious students.
Dr. Tumda’s program was one of the first of its kind in the Peren district, and it aims to provide financial assistance to deserving candidates for their academic pursuits. The program has been instrumental in encouraging students to realize their potential and achieve their goals.
