Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recently announced that he will provide compassionate assistance of Rs four lakh to the next of kin of each of the four people who died in two separate incidents following a nor’wester in Malkangiri district. The Chief Minister expressed grief over the deaths and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family members. In one incident, two people died after the boat they were in capsized in the Satiguda reservoir after strong winds hit. In another separate incident, two labourers died after the boundaries of the Malkangiri Airstrip collapsed in the same nor’wester. Three labourers were also injured in the same incident. Patnaik also directed officials to provide free high-quality medical care to the injured. In a separate incident, two girls died after bathing in the sea near Aryapalli under Chhatrapur block of Ganjam district. The Chief Minister announced compassionate assistance of Rs four lakh to the family members of each of the deceased, expressing his grief over the tragedy and conveying his sympathies to the bereaved family members.
