Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Monday to seek assistance for the state’s infrastructure projects. Sarma urged Gadkari to expedite key projects such as the underwater tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh, the Guwahati Ring Road, the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, and the four-laning of various national highway stretches in Assam.

In the meeting, Gadkari assured Sarma that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways would provide all possible help and support in accelerating these infrastructure projects in Assam. The collaboration between the state government and the central government aims to enhance connectivity and boost economic growth in the northeastern state.

One of the major projects discussed was the proposed underwater tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh. This ambitious project aims to establish an underwater connectivity link, which will significantly reduce travel time and facilitate seamless movement between the two areas. The Guwahati Ring Road project aims to address traffic congestion in the city and provide an efficient transportation network for commuters.

Another important initiative is the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, which aims to protect the wildlife habitat in the vicinity of the Kaziranga National Park while ensuring smooth vehicular movement and minimizing animal-human conflicts. Additionally, the four-laning of various national highway stretches in Assam will improve road infrastructure and connectivity within the state, facilitating better transportation of goods and services.

The collaboration between Chief Minister Sarma and Minister Gadkari highlights the commitment of the government in developing robust infrastructure in Assam. This focus on infrastructure development is crucial for driving economic growth, attracting investment, and improving the overall quality of life for the people of Assam.

As Assam moves forward with these infrastructure projects, it can expect increased connectivity, smoother transportation, and improved accessibility to various parts of the state. These initiatives will not only boost the economy but also pave the way for further development and progress in the northeastern region.

The meeting between Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari signifies the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises of transforming Assam into a vibrant and prosperous state. With the central government’s support, Assam can now accelerate its infrastructure projects and pave the way for a brighter future.
