Assam’s Chief Minister has inaugurated six new healthcare projects in a bid to improve medical services in the state. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the projects in the presence of Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, at an event held at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) auditorium in Guwahati. The projects, which include a 10-bed ICU, a national emergency life support skill centre, and a multi-purpose research unit, were dedicated to the public as part of a concerted effort to enhance healthcare facilities in the region.

Speaking during the inauguration, Biswa highlighted the importance of the projects in boosting health services in the state. The new ICU project is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, while the Molecular Oncology Lab at the State Cancer Institute, GMCH, is equipped with advanced technologies for cancer research. The Multidisciplinary Research Unit is an essential facility for conducting medical research in the state.

In addition to the above, the inaugurated projects include a 32 slice CT scan machine and an Asset Management Portal for Medical Colleges. The portal will help authorities manage assets and resources across different medical colleges in the state, ensuring that the facilities are adequately equipped to provide world-class medical services.

The Assam Chief Minister stated that these initiatives mark significant milestones for the healthcare sector in the region, and further demonstrated his commitment to improving medical facilities in the state. The projects are part of a larger push towards enhancing healthcare in Assam, including expanding the number of medical colleges, upgrading the status of hospitals to super-specialities, and engaging private healthcare providers to support government initiatives.

The launch of these new medical projects in Assam has also received widespread praise from medical professionals and members of the public. Many believe that it is a step in the right direction towards the state becoming a hub for medical research and healthcare investment.

In conclusion, the Assam CM’s announcement represents a game-changing moment for healthcare services in the state. The new projects are expected to significantly enhance the quality of medical care and services offered to patients across the region. Moreover, the investments are expected to attract more healthcare investors to Assam and boost medical research and development in the state.
