Assam Cabinet Takes Key Decisions on Education, Tourism, Industry, and Sports, India

The Assam State Cabinet made significant decisions regarding education, tourism, industry, sports, and various other sectors. One of the key decisions focused on elevating 116 tea garden model schools to government schools. Additionally, the cabinet proposed conducting a TET cum recruitment examination to hire teachers for secondary level schools. They also decided to establish governing bodies in engineering colleges and polytechnics across the state. Moreover, the cabinet discussed the appointment of head teachers in primary schools.

Meanwhile, the Assam Tourism Minister announced that the cabinet agreed to provide subsidies on bank loans for government employees looking to purchase vehicles. The state government also plans to recommend including Assam’s state-listed Other Backward Class (OBC) communities in the central list. Furthermore, the Tourism Information Officer and Assistant Tourism Information Officer will now be designated as Tourism Development Officer and Assistant Tourism Development Officer respectively.

In terms of industry and commerce, the Assam Cabinet will sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with five companies worth approximately Rs 3000 crore. These collaborations are expected to generate employment for about 4750 individuals. Previously, the government had already signed MoUs with eight companies amounting to Rs 8000 crore.

Additionally, the cabinet announced the establishment of a world-class Badminton center in North Guwahati, which will be inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 11. The state government also granted Rs 2,930 crore for the development of five mega industrial parks. Furthermore, the cabinet included a new schedule of offenses to combat corruption and proposed making Sanskrit compulsory for BAMS admissions.

Other notable decisions made during the cabinet meeting include implementing uniformity in accordance with the National Medical Commission, reforming the recruitment process for teachers and principals, and creating a new scheme enabling permanent state government employees to purchase vehicles. The cabinet also discussed the establishment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the state through an MoU.

Overall, the Assam State Cabinet made several crucial decisions across various sectors to promote development, education, tourism, industry, sports, and overall growth in the state. These decisions aim to bring numerous positive changes and opportunities to Assam and its people.
