Arrests Made in Halloween Party Shooting, Gunman in Custody

Two individuals have been apprehended by the Rochester Police Department in connection to a shooting incident that transpired during a Halloween party in southeast Rochester. The authorities were notified about the incident around 11:55 p.m. on October 27 at Quarters Apartments near Rochester Community and Technical College.

Initial reports suggest that the shooting initially occurred in a hallway outside an apartment where a large party was taking place. The altercation then spilled into the parking lot, leading to additional gunfire. One unfortunate consequence of this violent episode was a 20-year-old woman being struck in the eye while seated in a vehicle.

Identified as 18-year-old Aaron Caradine of Rochester, the suspected gunman allegedly shot at the vehicle, thereby causing injury to the young woman. The driver of the targeted vehicle, 21-year-old Daniel Young from Stewartville, retaliated and fired back at Caradine. However, it is currently unclear whether his shots hit their intended target.

Subsequently, both Caradine and Young were taken into custody on Thursday and are now facing charges of second-degree assault, drive-by shooting towards a person, and reckless discharge of a firearm. They are currently awaiting their arraignment in Olmsted County Court.

Investigators are diligently working on pinpointing the individual who fired a gunshot in the apartment’s hallway, as well as the person responsible for discharging bullets that struck two other buildings within the apartment complex. Fortunately, no one was present in the bedroom of one of the buildings at the time of the shooting.

Although two arrests have been made thus far, it is important to note that additional detentions are possible as the investigation continues. At present, authorities have recovered one firearm believed to have been used during the shooting.

The Rochester Police Department is putting significant efforts into ascertaining the facts surrounding this disturbing incident. By bringing the alleged perpetrators to justice, they hope to provide some closure to the affected individuals and the community as a whole.

Shootings of this nature are highly concerning, particularly when they occur during what should be a festive celebration. The Rochester Police Department is urging anyone with information related to this case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

As the legal proceedings progress, it is imperative to maintain a balanced perspective, recognizing the impact on the victims while also considering the potential motives and circumstances surrounding the shooters. By doing so, a clearer understanding of this distressing event may be achieved, enabling communities to take necessary precautions to prevent such incidents in the future.
