Arrests Made in Brutal Shootings of Teen and Man in Los Angeles
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal shootings of a teenager and a man in Los Angeles. Alfonso Ramos, 16, was tragically shot and killed on Saturday, August 12. This Thursday, police announced the arrest of a 14-year-old boy and 26-year-old Michael Monarrez for their alleged involvement in Ramos’ death.
However, Monarrez’s arrest was not solely related to Ramos’ death. Authorities suspect him to be connected to the death of Fermin Ruelas, a 45-year-old man who was shot and killed on August 17. Ruelas was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation led to the identification of Monarrez as a suspect in both cases.
In response to her son’s tragic death, Alfonso’s mother, Crystal, has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to provide financial assistance to the Ramos family. She expressed her relief at the arrests, stating, I’m happy they got them. I’m just not happy it’s a child doing this to another child. It hurts. No mother should bury their own child.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Ramos was working at Evergreen Parks Recreation Center when the suspects approached him, assaulted him, and ultimately shot him dead. The two suspects then fled the scene in a gray vehicle. LAPD has also confirmed that Ruelas died at the scene of his shooting. The 14-year-old juvenile suspect is facing charges related to Ramos’ death, while Monarrez has been charged with the deaths of both Ramos and Ruelas.
In addition, the LAPD revealed that one of the suspects from the August 12 shooting was involved in a separate shooting on August 17. Fermin Ruelas was the victim of this second shooting, which took place on Lorena Street. The police are urging the public to come forward with any information related to these incidents.
Crystal Ramos has set a goal of $25,000 for the GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised over $9,000. The campaign aims to provide financial support to Alfonso’s four siblings and their grieving mother during this difficult time. The fundraiser describes Alfonso as a loving son, brother, nephew, and cousin, emphasizing the devastating loss suffered by the entire family.
Law enforcement officials are diligently investigating both cases and have appealed to the public for cooperation. Any information that could help solve these brutal shootings is crucial in bringing justice to the victims and their families.
