Court documents have revealed that Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane’s alleged killers were arrested as a result of a trail of evidence linking them to other crimes. The pair was shot and killed in February last year outside a Durban restaurant on Florida Road in what police say was a hit.
Last week, authorities disclosed that AKA was targeted and followed from the airport until his murder, and that Motsoane was a casualty of the hit. Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the murders, with five appearing in the Durban Magistrates Court. According to reports, four of the suspects are brothers from a notorious and powerful family, feared in their community in Ocilwane on the outskirts of Richards Bay.
The group was tracked down by police after one of the men opened a bank account and used the card on the same day of the murder near the Florida Road strip. The suspects are expected back in court this week as investigations continue.
