Around 14 lakh families in Rajasthan are set to receive subsidies worth Rs 640 each under the Indira Gandhi Gas Cylinder Subsidy Scheme. The news was announced by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on June 5th, marking a positive step towards making LPG gas cylinders accessible to more people across the state. Gehlot explained that every family eligible under the scheme will receive Rs 640 in subsidies, with approximately 80 lakh families eligible overall. In addition, the Chief Minister noted that the Rajasthan government had collected information about eligible families in order to provide them with subsidies.
The positive news was shared by Gehlot during a trip to Jodhpur, where he inaugurated several new development projects worth over Rs 1000 crore. Despite the good news, Gehlot expressed some frustration that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not mention the subsidy scheme during his recent visit to Ajmer, Rajasthan. But he should have mentioned about our ambitious scheme, Gehlot commented.
Overall, the subsidies will benefit many families across Rajasthan who may struggle to afford LPG gas cylinders.
