Armed Robbers Steal $100K & Rifle in Bindura Gold Centre Heist
An audacious robbery took place in Bindura, Mashonaland Central, as a gang of armed robbers targeted a gold buying center, making off with over US$100,000 in cash and a .303 rifle. The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 2 am in Bindura’s Chiwaridzo suburb.
The gang, consisting of eight individuals armed with a combination of seven pistols and an unidentified firearm, forcefully entered the business premises, overpowering the security guard. They managed to disarm him before making their escape with the stolen rifle and $104,000.
Local law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects involved.
In a separate case, the police are also seeking information to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified woman on August 9. The incident occurred near the Umguza Bridge along the Harare-Bulawayo road in a suspected hit-and-run accident. The woman was tragically struck by an unknown motorist.
Meanwhile, in another unfortunate incident on the same day, a man named Cabangani Tshuma tragically lost his life at Raising Business Centre in Lusulu, Binga. Tshuma was struck on the head with a log following a disagreement during a gambling game. The police have taken Tawanda Ndlovu into custody for questioning in relation to this murder.
Moving to Nkayi, in Matabeleland North province, authorities have made significant progress in a murder investigation that occurred in Nkalankata on August 8. Two individuals, Bongisani and Lungisani Ngwenya, both aged 36, have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Meanwhile, in Chegutu, the police are currently on the hunt for Desire Kanengoni, who is a suspect in the murder of Brian Mawadi. The incident took place in the Kaguvi Phase 2 area of the town. Kanengoni is believed to have fled after stabbing Mawadi in the back for rejecting her request for a sleepover.
