Arab-Islamic Summit Condemns Israeli Aggression on Gaza Strip, Calls for Immediate Ceasefire

In a bid to address the escalating violence in the Gaza Strip, the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held on Saturday in Riyadh issued a draft resolution denouncing the ongoing Israeli Occupation aggression and urging an immediate ceasefire. The summit called on all countries to cease the export of weapons and ammunition to Israel, which are used to inflict harm on the Palestinian people and destroy vital infrastructure.

The joint summit vehemently opposed any attempts to justify the Israeli Occupation’s aggressive campaign as an act of self-defense, labeling it instead as a retaliatory war. The summit also appealed to the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action by imposing a cessation of aggression and reining in the colonial occupation authority, which consistently violates international law and resolutions.

Of particular concern to the summit was the Israeli Occupation’s destruction of hospitals in the Gaza Strip and its relentless obstruction of essential supplies such as medicine, food, fuel, electricity, and water. The draft resolution described these practices as collective punishment, constituting war crimes that defy international law. The summit called for immediate measures to be taken, including lifting the long-standing siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, the summit collectively requested the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to initiate a thorough investigation into the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli Occupation in all occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

Highlighting the stark injustice faced by the Palestinian people, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein emphasized the international community’s failure to deliver justice and secure their fundamental rights to dignity, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

King Abdullah II stressed the urgency of addressing the dire conditions plaguing the residents of the Gaza Strip, which have strangled their daily lives and impeded access to vital healthcare. He emphasized that humanitarian corridors must remain open and safe, asserting that depriving the people of Gaza of basic necessities like food, medicine, water, and electricity amounted to a war crime that must be condemned.

Furthermore, King Abdullah II assured that Jordan would continue fulfilling its duty by providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people through all possible means.

The Arab-Islamic Summit’s resolute condemnation of Israeli aggression and its call for an immediate ceasefire echoes the pressing need for international intervention and for the protection of Palestinian rights. This collective stance aims to bring an end to the escalating violence and restore hope for a peaceful resolution in the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
