Apple might have only launched its M3 Macs a few months back, but rumors of the upcoming M4 lineup have already surfaced. According to reports, Apple is gearing up to refresh its entire Mac lineup with the latest M4 chips by the end of this year and throughout 2025. This move signals a significant shift as it would be the first time that all Mac devices will use the same generation of chips since the transition to Apple silicon.
The leaks, detailed by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, suggest a comprehensive lineup overhaul starting this year with the release of a low-end M4 MacBook Pro and a new 24-inch M4 iMac. Following this, a new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro equipped with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips are expected towards the end of 2024 or early 2025. The Mac mini is also slated for an update with M4 and M4 Pro chips around the same timeframe. Spring 2025 could see the MacBook Airs receiving their own M4 refresh, while the Mac Studio might get new high-end M4 chips in mid-2025. Finally, the lineup is anticipated to conclude with a new Mac Pro powered by the M4 Ultra in the latter half of 2025.
While the roadmap appears promising, it is essential to note that plans could be subject to change based on various factors, including chip availability. Despite these uncertainties, Apple enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the M4 Mac lineup, which promises enhanced performance and efficiency across the board.
