The MAA app, which was launched in Bikaner last year, has been nominated for the national e-governance award. The app, part of the anaemia-free Bikaner campaign, has made significant strides in the fight against anaemia in urban and rural areas of the district and caught the attention of the Centre’s team.
Under the initiative, every girl and woman in Bikaner undergoes a haemoglobin test, with their reports collected online through the MAA app. The app provides detailed data on haemoglobin levels and allows users to easily identify the prevalence and severity of anaemia. This information helps take timely administrative actions and track the progress of treatment for patients with severe anaemia.
The MAA app has proven to be a valuable tool for gathering accurate and precise information on the prevalence of anaemia among girls and women. In fact, over 2.53 lakh adolescent girls have already undergone the haemoglobin test as part of the campaign.
Dr. Mohammad Abrar Pawar, the Chief Medical Health Officer of Bikaner, highlighted the significance of the app in managing and combating anaemia. With all the data readily available on the app, healthcare professionals and authorities can make informed decisions and implement necessary interventions to address the issue effectively.
The district collector of Bikaner, Bhagwati Prasad Kalal, initiated this innovative campaign as a way to tackle anaemia comprehensively. The MAA app has played a pivotal role in organizing and streamlining the efforts to combat anaemia among the female population in the district.
The national e-governance award recognizes the impact and success of the MAA app and its contribution to addressing anaemia. A team from the Centre will assess the app’s impact in both urban and rural areas of Bikaner before deciding on its eligibility for the award.
To further support the cause, the health department has relaunched the drive to test the haemoglobin levels of adolescent girls in the district. This initiative aims to continue the progress made so far and ensure that comprehensive efforts are made to combat anaemia effectively.
The MAA app has proven to be a game-changer in the fight against anaemia in Bikaner. Its seamless data collection and reporting capabilities have empowered healthcare professionals and authorities to make informed decisions and take appropriate actions. With its nomination for the national e-governance award, the MAA app stands as a shining example of how technology can be harnessed to bring about positive change in public health.
