Andhra Pradesh to get five new medical colleges in August

Five new medical colleges will be opened in Andhra Pradesh in August and classes will begin in September, increasing the total number of MBBS seats in the state to 2,935. The new colleges will be located in Vizianagaram, Eluru, Nandyala, Machilipatnam and Rajamahendravaram and will each have 150 MBBS seats. The state’s Chief Minister, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, is committed to healthcare and has managed to construct an additional 17 medical colleges in just four years, adding 1,750 seats. The remaining 12 colleges will be functional within two to three years. This news will be a boon to students in the state, reducing the need to relocate for medical education.
