Andhra Pradesh Police has successfully seized 240 kilograms of cannabis and apprehended eight people in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The seized cannabis was intended to be illegally dispatched to Sri Lanka. All eight arrestees were from Tamil Nadu. The cannabis was found during a vehicle inspection while it was being transported from Anakapalli to Sri Lanka. The Police also seized five cell phones, a truck and a car from the accused. According to the police, Khader Basha is the mastermind behind this illegal drug trade in Sri Lanka, while in India, the main actors are Ananda Velu, Balakishan, and Tirumala.

The police officers discovered that the cannabis was well-hidden beneath the vegetables in the truck. Around 120 packets of ganja were stashed inside the vehicle. The Police have registered cases against the accused in both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Parameshwar Reddy, the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Tirupati, said that he would seek help from the Interpol to arrest Khader Basha.

This recent drug bust highlights the ongoing battle against drug smuggling operations in India. The smuggling of cannabis and other illegal drugs has greatly affected the country in the past few years. With the Police’s commitment to taking strict action against drug traffickers, this particular seizure sends a clear message to potential offenders.
