Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a jibe at Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandra Babu Naidu, calling him synonymous with backstabbing, conspiracy, cheating and lies. Reddy accused Naidu of making promises ahead of the elections and later abandoning them once it is over.
The Chief Minister also criticized Naidu, who served as the Chief Minister for 14 years, for not implementing welfare schemes during his rule. According to Reddy, this was because Naidu did not have a generous heart and cheated all sections of society, including women, farmers SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, and EBCs.
Reddy also attacked Naidu for his anti-poor stance and his opposition to the distribution of tablets and the introduction of English medium in schools. He accused Naidu of forgetting his promises post-election and not benefiting any section of society during his rule.
Taking a dig at Naidu’s recent declarations on Rayalaseema, BCs, SCs, STs, minorities and gas cylinders, Reddy questioned why he did not make these declarations during his rule. He urged people not to be misled by TDP’s vicious and malicious campaign, adding that it is a war between the pro-people government and a pro-capitalist TDP enjoying the support of foster son and friendly media.
Reddy’s comments come a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government of looting the money sent by the Centre to the state. Shah was visiting Visakhapatnam to address a meeting to mark the completion of the nine years of the BJP-led-Central government under PM Modi. Shah said that the state has become a den of anti-social elements under YSRCP rule.
While the two parties continue to trade accusations, it remains to be seen how all of this will play out in the newly-formed state of Andhra Pradesh.
