Sam Warburton, the former Wales rugby captain, has urged players to accept a “reset of expectation” regarding wages if the sport is to survive a financial crisis in England and Wales. Warburton stated that the sport must be made more commercially viable before players can earn salaries at previous levels, adding that the situation was neither unexpected nor unsustainable.
