Finn Wittrock, known for his role in American Horror Story, will no longer be playing the major DC hero in the upcoming Green Lantern series called Lanterns, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Initially, it was announced that Wittrock would portray Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, alongside Jeremy Irvine as Alan Scott. However, the show has undergone redevelopment, resulting in the replacement of both Wittrock and Irvine.

Recently, it was revealed that Nathan Fillion, who appeared in The Suicide Squad, has been cast as Guy Gardner in Superman: Legacy. James Gunn, the filmmaker behind the series, confirmed that Fillion will also be playing the character in the Green Lantern series. In response to a confused fan’s question on Threads, Gunn clarified that the Green Lanterns show and Superman: Legacy are not separate, and Fillion will portray Guy Gardner in all parts of the DC Universe.

Fillion’s iteration of Guy Gardner has been described as less than heroic and will have a distinctive bowl-cut hairstyle. Superman: Legacy has also added Edi Gathegi, known for his role in Twilight, as Mister Terrific, an intelligent inventor with formidable combat skills. Additionally, Isabela Merced from Instant Family has been cast as Hawkgirl, a character known for her proficiency with various weapons.

Previous announcements confirmed that David Corenswet from The Politician will play Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will take on the role of Lois Lane.

It is noteworthy that other actors, such as Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney, Emma Mackey, and Phoebe Dynevor, were considered for the roles before Corenswet and Brosnahan were ultimately chosen.

Fans of the DC Universe are eagerly anticipating the release of these new series additions, as the casting choices and implied character portrayals have generated significant interest and excitement. The decision to replace Finn Wittrock has sparked intrigue and speculation among fans, further heightening anticipation for the upcoming shows.
