Giannina Scott Options Rights To Mat Youkee’s ‘Children Of The Jungle’

EXCLUSIVE: Giannina Scott has secured the rights to journalist Mat Youkee’s captivating book proposal Children of the Jungle: The True Story Behind the Survival of Four Children in the Amazon. This project will be produced under Giannina’s Cara Films banner, in collaboration with Ridley Scott and Scott Free President Michael Pruss. While no studio partnership has been confirmed yet, the rights acquisition marks an exciting development in the production of this remarkable story.

The gripping narrative unravels the astonishing tale of four indigenous children – Lesly, Soleiny, Tien, and Cristin – who defied all odds and demonstrated unimaginable resilience during their forty-day ordeal in the treacherous Colombian Amazon. Titled FORTYDAYS IN THE JUNGLE, the book dives deep into the heart of the story, featuring interviews with family members, indigenous and military search teams, as well as respected elders from Colombia’s Amazonian communities. By exploring the historical context leading up to the event and the aftermath of the children’s rescue, the book sheds light on the brutal history, unyielding culture, and ongoing challenges faced by Colombia’s indigenous communities. The tale indeed showcases how 13-year-old Lesly and her siblings were survivors even before embarking on ill-fated flight HK2803.

Scribe Publications is set to release the book on October 15th, 2024, covering the United States, the United Kingdom, and all other English language territories.
