Amazon Managed Blockchain (AMB) has announced an upgrade to its Access and Query functions, further establishing the tech giant’s presence in the Web3 space. The announcement was made during the AWS Web3/Blockchain Summit in New York City on July 26, signaling a significant advancement in Amazon’s blockchain services.

Designed as a Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, Amazon Managed Blockchain aims to simplify the creation and maintenance of scalable blockchain networks for businesses, startups, and individual developers. The recent enhancement of AMB’s Access and Query functionalities offers users improved access to their network activity data and transaction history.

Saman Michael Far, VP of Financial Services Technology at AWS, stated that the upgraded Amazon Managed Blockchain Access and Query provide friction-free access to blockchain networks and their data so developers can easily create their Web3 applications. This service enhancement is set to enhance decision-making capabilities and operational efficiency for customers.

The Access functionality of AMB has expanded to provide serverless and scalable access to blockchains. Developers can now interact with digital assets and distributed applications across multiple blockchains through standard remote procedure calls, eliminating the need for specialized infrastructure. Initially, this service will support the Bitcoin network.

Furthermore, AMB’s Query feature allows developers to access blockchain data across multiple chains via application programming interfaces (API), starting with Bitcoin and Ethereum. To increase accessibility and affordability, Amazon is introducing a pay-as-you-go model for this service.

The upgraded services offered by AMB have a range of potential use cases, including custodial and wallet crypto applications, as well as Web3 consumer engagement campaigns leveraging non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Amazon’s commitment to enhancing these services solidifies its position as a major player in the global blockchain adoption movement.

In summary, Amazon Managed Blockchain has announced significant upgrades to its Access and Query functions, which enhance accessibility and enable developers to create Web3 applications more easily. With expanded support for the Bitcoin network and a pay-as-you-go model for accessing blockchain data, Amazon is positioning itself as a leader in the Web3 space. These service upgrades are set to drive insightful decision-making and enhance operational efficiency for customers utilizing Amazon Managed Blockchain.
