Amazon Announces Discontinuation of Amazon Halo Effective July 31, 2023
Amazon recently made the difficult decision to stop supporting Amazon Halo, its health and wellness tracking device, effective July 31, 2023. The company is proud of the innovation and hard work that went into creating Halo but has decided to prioritize customer care and employee support.
In a message to impacted employees in the U.S. and Canada, Amazon explained that packages including a separation payment, transitional health insurance benefits, and external job placement support will be provided. For customers, Amazon has started issuing refunds for purchases made within the past 12 months of Amazon Halo View, Amazon Halo Band, Amazon Halo Rise, and Amazon Halo accessory bands. Additionally, any unused prepaid Halo subscription fees will be refunded.
Starting from August 1, 2023, Amazon Halo devices and the associated app will no longer function. Users who wish to download or delete their Halo health data can do so through the app’s Settings page. Those who want to save their scan images to their phone’s Camera Roll can do this by opening the individual scan image, clicking the button next to the camera icon, and selecting Save images to phone. After August 1, 2023, any remaining Halo health data will be deleted.
Amazon encourages customers to recycle their Amazon Halo devices and accessories through the Amazon Recycling Program. The company covers the shipping and recycling costs for these devices and accessories. Further information on the program and a free shipping label can be found on the Amazon Recycling Program website.
