Incredible Facts about Indian Cricketers | Shocking Facts about Cricket Players

Indian cricket has reached great heights of success over the years, earning a reputable position in the world of cricket. The Indian cricket team has become nothing less than a religion in India, with a large part of this success owed to the passionate fans. However, it is the Indian cricket players who have truly won the hearts of the nation with their exceptional performances.

Since 1932, India has been playing international cricket, and in their more than 90-year journey, Indian fans have cherished several glorious memories. While moments like MS Dhoni’s iconic six in the 2011 World Cup final and Kapil Dev’s sensational catch against Viv Richards in the 1983 World Cup final are commonly remembered, there are some astounding facts about Indian cricketers that remain lesser-known to many.

Virat Kohli, undoubtedly one of the best batters in international cricket, is renowned for his exceptional batting skills. Throughout his 15-year career, he has consistently served Indian cricket with his remarkable performances. However, there is an intriguing incident from 2011 that still remains fresh in the minds of Indian cricket fans and supporters.

During India’s tour of England in 2011, the two teams clashed in the only T20 International (T20I) match in Manchester. Batting first after winning the toss, India posted a challenging total of 165 runs on the board, thanks to the brisk knocks of Ajinkya Rahane (61 off 39 balls) and Suresh Raina (33 off 19 balls).

In their defense of the total, India managed to dismiss Alex Hales and Craig Kieswetter, but Kevin Pietersen posed a threat with his aggressive batting, scoring 33 runs off just 22 balls. In the eighth over, India’s captain, MS Dhoni, made a surprising move by bringing Virat Kohli into the attack. Kohli, who was primarily known for his batting prowess, bowled a delivery down the leg side against Pietersen. The English batsman, attempting an attacking shot, got deceived and lost his wicket when he was stumped by Dhoni. This marked an extraordinary moment as Kohli, in his very first delivery of the match, claimed his maiden T20I wicket, which happened to be a wide as declared by the umpire.

There you have it, an intriguing incident featuring Virat Kohli that showcases the multifaceted talents of Indian cricketers. These incredible athletes continue to make history and surprise fans with their remarkable performances, making Indian cricket an unforgettable journey.
