Saamna, the official newspaper of the Uddhav Thackeray faction in India, has labeled the opposition parties meeting on June 23 as India’s Wagner Group. The editorial claims that this Wagner Group is determined to dislodge the Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The publication believes that democracy protector ‘Wagner Group’ will challenge Modi’s rule by using the power of the people’s votes.
The article further claims that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will not decide the results of the next election, rather it will be decided by the people of India. The newspaper also highlights that if there will be doubt or fraud in the EVMs, there will be a Manipur-like situation in the country as so much anger is filled among people against the government.
The Opposition meeting on June 23 aimed to forge opposition unity to challenge BJP. and more than 17 opposition parties took part in the meeting. Moreover, the next meeting of like-minded parties will be held in Shimla next month.
The opposition parties picked the location, Patna, as it symbolizes the 1974 call of total revolution by Jayaprakash Narayan, which toppled Indira Gandhi’s majority government.
