At the 1014th Academic Council meeting of the University of Delhi on Friday, the Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh put forward a proposal to drop the syllabus dedicated to the national poet of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal. He said that someone who had a fundamental hand in the partition of India has no place in the syllabus and that the university should instead focus their energy on exploring the teachings of national heroes. The proposal was accepted unanimously by the House, marking the end of Allama Iqbal’s era in the syllabus of the University of Delhi.
The syllabuses of various courses under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022 were discussed during the meeting.
