Akron City Fest: A Celebration of Akron’s Next Generation of Leaders

Akron, Ohio is gearing up for a grand celebration of its young leaders with the upcoming Akron City Fest on Sunday, Sept. 3. This free festival aims to honor the city’s youth as they embark on a new school year, bringing together families and providing a day filled with joy and entertainment.

The inaugural Akron City Fest kicks off with a vibrant parade at 11 a.m., commencing at the intersection of Main and Cedar streets. The parade showcases the city’s student athletes, as well as members of various extracurricular clubs and organizations. The parade route follows Main Street and concludes at the lively Cascade Plaza.

Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan expressed his warm welcome to all Akron families, inviting them to join in the festivities. In a news release, he stated, This festival will help us set the tone for our future leaders for their school year and provide some joy and entertainment for parents and kids alike. Join us as we uplift and empower our students to have an amazing year.

After the parade, Cascade Plaza will transform into a hub of excitement, with an array of food, fun, and entertainment. Festival-goers can expect a diverse lineup of activities, including live music, games, a talent show, face painting, a fashion show, a captivating magic show by Chicago magician Gregory T-Magic Turner, and inflatable attractions. The event will also feature food trucks, a DJ, school supply giveaways, and informative booths catering to youth.

Youngsters aspiring to take part in the fashion show can attend casting calls at Buchtel High School on Sunday, Aug. 27. The festival is presented by the city of Akron and hosted by Night Lyfe Entertainment, with valuable support from Akron Public Schools, UNKNWN, Lock 3, Akron Recreation and Parks, and Downtown Akron Partnership.
